Speaking of Schinus molle - pruning advice wanted

While they may not be the rampant weeds in Southern California that Schinus
terebinthifolius is in Florida, they do tend to pop up. My little half acre
has a grand total of four, all of them in desperate need of dead wood
removal and two of them, since they have offered themselves in our living
area, in need of "housekeeping": getting the canopy off the ground for fire
regulations and access to their shade for the humans, etc. Does anyone know
when this should be done? Thanks.
