Hallo I have no personal experience of Proteaceae but I was recently on
holiday in South Africa, near the Cape. In conversation with a nurseryman
there he gave me his opinion that the two essentials were an acid soil and a
soil that was very low in phosphates. Good drainage also. Good luck
