In the section of a key in Flora of Australia that distinguishes between the two:
2. Branchlets and cones _+ densely and obviously pubescent; teeth 6-8, not marcescent; cone body 10-24 mm long, 9-13 mm diam; cone bracteoles acute; samara 6-8 mm long   E. equisetifolia

2. Branchlets and cones sparsely and minutely pubescent; teeth 6-1, marcescent or not; cone body 7-14 mm long, 4-6 mm diam; cone bracteoles broadly acute to acute; samara 3-2 mm long   E. cunninghamiana

Subject: Casuarina

Here in Southern Portugal, two Casuarina's are common: equisetifolia and cunninghamiana.
I have tried to find on internet pictures, to determine clear differances between them, but without success. It looks like that the flowers of equisetifolia are more brown reddish and the flowers of cunninghamiana are more whitish. Can anybody help?
Wim
