industry. I have been in the industry for 34 years and have been in
almost every segment, from production/propagation to international commercial
to wholesale field and greenhouse to retail nursery.
I am currently writing a book, "Beyond Mom & Pop -- Ten Big Steps for
Small Companies with Heart and Soul". It's for small businesses that
need a kickstart into real success.
I would be happy to correspond with your friend. I can give him an
overview of the industry, help him focus, and offer some practical business

Dear All,
I must confess that I
too plan to enter the nursery business. My family and I intend to move to the
Willamette Valley in Oregon in the Spring of 2007. At that time I will have
the resources to make a substantial investment in a nursery. We do not intend
it to be our source of support and income, but hope that it may evolve as
such. It is my hope that I will be able to offer many new and unusual plants
to that area.
