If you didn't know, I am a business consultant in the hort industry.  I have been in the industry for 34 years and have been in almost every segment, from production/propagation to international commercial to wholesale field and greenhouse to retail nursery.
 
I am currently writing a book, "Beyond Mom & Pop -- Ten Big Steps for Small Companies with Heart and Soul".  It's for small businesses that need a kickstart into real success.
 
I would be happy to correspond with your friend.  I can give him an overview of the industry, help him focus, and offer some practical business info and marketing help.  If nothing else, he could be a business model for me to follow.
