There are dozens of seed packet companies in
Japan. For example I've got a packet of Celosia
argentea from 'Nikko Seeds' in Utsunomiya,
Tochigi-ken and a packet of Corchorus
olitorius from 'Peacock' who do not list their
address. Both packets cost Y250 and have quite
explicitly detailed horticultural instructions on
the reverse.
- packages of 'daikon' radish and edible
chrysanthemum seeds from Touhoku (seeds) also
from Utsunomiya, complete with a little map of
Japan and when to plant them in each region.
- Black soy beans from Asahi (can't figure out
the address) The back also has very detailed
planting instructions)
- an edible Lagenaria from Sakata Seeds in
Yokohama - detailed written instructions but not
such a pretty map.
- some variety of black, perfectly round eggplant
with which I am not familiar from some company
called Tombo ('Dragonfly') or Takii ??
-some luffa seeds from Nichinou in Nagano-ken
quite cheap Y150 very detailed instruction and
illustration.
There are also wide variety of ornamental seeds
avaible from these companies.
Locally I guess the nicer looking packets are
Renee's Seeds - quite pricey.
