Hi Pamela
Cycads, use a strong sharp knife to very gently prise the side 'bulbs'
of the cycad from the parent trunk. Do this at the onset of the warm
season and plant the off-set in a mix of peat and sand 50: 50 and keep
in a well lit spot but out of full sun. Water carefully allowing the
potting mix to barely dry out before watering again. The baby plant
should make roots withing 3-4 months. They are slow and can take a year.
No fertilizer until you know it has made roots; they will show through
the drainage hole of the pot.
Agapanthus - fine under trees but won't flower if its really dense
shade. They seem to do OK in dappled high shade. make certain that you
cut of the flower heads before the seeds ripen or you could end up with
lots of seedlings you don't want. As the seeds are light and slightly
winged they can carry on the wind and will invade creekbeds and other
damp areas given half a chance. O/wise fabulous plants for the Med. See
if you can find sources for some of the improved forms like SNOW GOOSE,
ZELLA THOMAS, LYDENBURG, LOCH HOPE, DUTCH GIANT, or even the wonderfully
tall and dark Agapanthus inapertus

Hello Group
I have several quite large cycas palms in pots with 'babies' growing
from
the base. Can I remove these babies and plant elsewhere. If so how can
I do
it?
I am also hoping to plant some Agapanthus bulbs as they look show showy
and
really make a good display to fill between trees- any do's and
don'ts?
I have a coastal Costa Blanca garden
Thank you all
Grateful for any advice
