ID Help

Happy New Year fellow Med gardeners!

I was lucky enough to go to Tanzania for 3 weeks in December.  I took a train to Mbeya (southwestern TZ), 52 hairpin turns later and a short drive from the town Matambe, I made it to the Kitulo Plateau--the Serengeti of Plants!

My husband and I with a driver and 2 guides, 4x4'ed all over the place.  One guide is the Park Warden for Education and Outreach.  They were all plant enthusiasts, but were not able to ID the plants.  I was able to help them ID many of them, but there were also a ton I could not.  Any help in ID'ing these plants would be most appreciated.  I hope to pass on the information to these wonderful people.  The park warden was so excited about learning the plants, he printed out photos and brought them to dinner for me to write down the names for him.  They were black and white, but his efforts to learn were so endearing.

The flora and climate is more Mediterranean-like compared to the tropical lowlands.  Kitulo Plateau was officially designated a Botanical Reserve in 2004.  We signed the registry and the first page wasn't even full yet.  I felt as though I discovered an unknown botanical wonderland.

I have my photos on Flickr in a set called "ID Help."  http://www.flickr.com/gp/43583046@N00/93gM58

If you're interested in more photos of the plateau, or pictures of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, please let me know off-group, and I'll send you another link.

Thank you!
