Hi Folks -

Diane Whitehead first brought this to my attention, just before the holidays. It remains true - Medit-Plant posts since June are not being archived on the Hort.net server.

Hort.net offered us this archiving service years ago when they were just getting themselves going. They have provided this service pro-bono ever since. Apparently a number of you have come to depend upon (as have I).

I've been trying to communicate with the folks at Hort.net since I was first made aware of this situation. Diane and I assume that things stopped due to UC Davis changing their listserv software (which no doubt 'looks' different to the Hort.net program handling the archive).

As yet, I have had no response from Hort.net. I tried a variety of e-mail addresses for Hort.net (any that I can dig up) as well as some alternate e-mails I've found for the persons involved with Hort.net. I've even looked up the telephone numbers of some of these folks and left voice-mail messages.

I can only imagine the Hort.net is not fully supported at this time due to some sort of situation of their own or one of their members (possibly unforseen). I will continue to try new ways to contact them but at this time I am also investigating new ways in which the Medit-Plants list might be archived. Ideally, I would like to host such an archive on the www.gimcw.org server (which is an outgrowth of Medit-Plants). I am not expert in setting up such a routine so that would take some research and development on my part. If a member of this list has information they think might be useful towards that aim, feel free to pass it along to me personally (s*@gimcw.org).

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but there still has been no updating of archived older Malhorn list serve posts since June of 2010. I know this was commented on previously, but it seems nothing has changed.
