I doubt there is anything in nature that is EXACTLY like anything else. As a pilot (soloed 1941) I don't think I have every seen anything that was exactly like anything else. When I went overseas in August 1943 and we landed in Dakar Africa (actually Rufisque). The 2 1/2 ton GI truck backed up to the door of the C-87 (convertd B-24) tranport (from Natal Brazil). We stepped off directly onto the truck. The truck drove off, axle deep in mud and left no track. It had been raining, seriously raining. This was their form of a Mediterranean climate. When I finally got stationed south of Naples Italy, we got into their Mediterranean climate. It didn't start till probably November. It lasted a few months and then no rain while I was still there. I left to go home in September. To me, a Mediterranean climate is a two to three months of rain at some time in the fall and no particular rain till the next year. Somehow I don't think it can be defined more precisely than that unless one is talking about a very small area. ---Chas--- |
