I came across this in one of my perennial books. I am interested in it and
would like any opinions of it or if anyone has grown this.
It is a member of the mint family, with what looks like soft yellow monarda
type blossoms. Almost reminds me of the leonurus blossoms stacked up the
stem, only yellow not orange. It gets 3 to 4 feet tall. According to my
source it's hardy from zones 4 to 10 likes full sun and blooms in the
summer, although other varieties hardy to zone 8. The leaves are 6 to 8 "
long. Not a delicate looking plant by no means. Some of the other varieties
bloom with pink blossoms, but I am interested in the yellow blooms. P.
fruticosa (Jerusalem Sage) is another variety which sounds similiar to P.
russeliana.
A search through my catalogs didn't reveal this plant. Although I looked
under herbs and perennial sections of each catalog.
Where would I find a source for this plant? I would prefer seeds but would
be willing to purchase a small plant if seeds can not be purchased. Any help
is appreciated! I hope this is ok to post here but don't know where else to
look! If not appropriate I apologize and please send any replies privately.
Thanks!
Debbie TT.
