Hello.
My reference materials are not in hand at the moment, or I should like
to name several thistles from various sources (there is a work on alpine
wildflowers of the Rocky Mtns. whose exact title I of course cannot name
if I did not just do so, and "Weeds of the West" may have poorer
pictures of several, although I cannot truly understand why they are in
such a category.)
One of the Colorado specie is pictured so downy, that it looks as if
charged with millions of volts and almost as if giving off light.
Indeed, I have longed for seeds of these, including the Elk Thisle, they
are to me amazing, and surpass many of the standard "architectural"
plants. Perhaps I shouldn't dismiss Acanthuses just yet, but the two
might make an exquisite combination.
Now I am also longing for seed of Dandelions with three-inch heads...
along with the odd alpine specie of Taraxacum from the Rockies.
