Last year I was astounded to find a fruiting almond tree in the grounds of
Northallerton Hospital in North Yorkshire, England, and that is a place with pretty
cool summers - unfortunately I have no idea of the equivalent zone, but it has some
rather Arctic temperatures during the winter, too. There had been quite a hot
summer, but I don't know if that in itself is enough to justify fruiting. Can
anyone in Britain help for the equivalent zone and suggest how it managed to fruit?
By the way, the almonds were quite tasty, too, but not quite in the same league as
my Southern Italian garden ones.
