David: Encouraging!
Bob Carl and I have had a private exchange about the possibilities
since his original posting here. I don't know that we've got
significantly further, apart from agreeing that, Yes, it would be a
good idea, but Bob may post the exchange here to keep folks up to
date with what's brewing. Like you, I'm sure something ought to be
workable on this, at least on a small-scale one-to-one level (my head
gets dizzy when I try to think through the organization of anything
more grand!).
In fact the frosts barely arrived here, either. A degree or two,
maybe, arriving late and going early. (Though there were hard frosts
in the hills ten miles inland.)
Certainly there wasn't enough frost to disturb Paraserianthes
lopthantha in its extravagant flowering - a state it's been in since
the end of November - and it must have at least another month left.
This handsome acacia-relative (ex-Albizzia) seems to be a lot hardier
than most reference books suggest and ought to be growable much more
commonly in the UK than it is at the moment.
Best:
Tim
