Agapanthus

Any agapanthus devotees might like to know of a new book on the genus,
the only one since Mrs Frances Leighton's work in the JOURNAL OF SOUTH
AFRICAN BOTANY, Supplementary Vol IV, 1965. The new book is called
AGAPANTHUS: A REVIEW. It's by Wim Snoeijer and is privately published
by him from IJssellaan 139, 2806 TG Gouda, The Netherlands. It costs
54.50 Dutch guilders or 20 spanking new Euros - those are the only
currencies for which I have its price. It's a 256 page A5 paperback
with 28pp of colour photographs (usually two to a page). It isn't
light or easy reading (Wim Snoeijer's Dutch English sometimes takes
some unravelling) but for the seriously interested it contains a lot
of useful information not otherwise easily (and sometimes not at all)
available. It's in standard monograph format: preliminary chapters on
histroy, taxonomy, nomenclature, propagation, cultivation, hardiness,
etc, then 160pp of descriptions.
