Books

1/ I accidentally deleted a message recently which talked of a book on the
subject of plant habitats of the different Med. climate areas. Could someone
kindly tell me what it is & possibly give me their thoughts on its
usefullness & quality. If this is a subject which has alredy been covered by
the group perhaps I could be contacted personally to save others time.

2/ There is currently available, the best book I have seen on the Fynbos
region ; which is effectively the whole of the Med climate zone here ; & I
have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone interested. Its called '
Fynbos. South Africa's Unique Floral Kingdom ' by Richard Cowling & Dave
Richardson. Published by the Fernwood Press.
Its not a species listing at all but more of an ecological overview
expaining what the Fynbos formation is composed of & giving its history &
present status. Well photographed & would give any neophyte to the area a
good overview on what its all about. My copy cost me R180 locally ( About
$US 30 )

3/ Is anyone aware of an English language book, easily available, covering
the Southern American region as regards its ecology & botanic zones ? This
seems to be an area its hard to find much info. on.
