Hello again from Napa, CA--Last spring, I wrote about my Pandorea
jasminoides looking sad and received great info. I had it planted in
the wrong place, in a pot, etc. I moved it, planted it in the ground
and it went great guns all summer and looked marvelous. Someone warned
me that their P.j., in Berkeley, I think, was killed by the frost of
1991 (?). Well, this freeze has pretty much toasted mine, despite being
covered and sheltered. The leaves are all bronzed and curled, but the
stems still look green and alive. A local nursery told me not to cut
anything back on any of my plants just yet. The dead stuff would
provide a buffer against deeper damage with another freeze. So should I
just continue to leave everything alone until I see signs of new
growth? Actually the frost damage I had looks like most plants will
probably recover, at least I'm quite hopeful. My abutilon, rhodie,
fatsia, rosemary, etc., all took it in stride and look fine. Wendy
