Your friend shouldn't have pruned the plant at all. She should wait to see
if it recovers before pruning. FWIW, I put my potted jades into shelter
but I have a bunch in the ground outdoors. It got down to 24 degrees here
and, to my great surprise, there is no damage at all. Don't fertilize.
