Hi Barry
Not being a fan of our local heroine myself I haven't seen many of the
incidents, but I wonder if they actually confine their filming to just
around Auckland or whether they occasionally go further afield, say into
the central forest areas, for some of their incidents.

I cannot myself remember seeing many of these pines in my visits to
Auckland, but then I wasn't actually looking out for them. I have an
idea, though, there may be a stand in one of their local parks, and that
was conceivably what you saw.
