plant labels

If there is no admission charge, one should not
complain about the lack of plant labels. If there is an admission charge, yell
like hell if there are no labels. I have been doing this for years on England
visits and it has paid off. At UCSC Arboretum, we found that visitors would pull
up labels of the most exotic Australian or NZ plants - why? They obviously did
not own them. So we have devised labels that are almost impossible to DIG up.
People must feel it is a challenge to pull up or tear off a label. With young
men...well, better keep that to myself. bill grant, aptos,
