tree dahlia again

I saw a splendid 'tree dahlia' yesterday in full bloom which did not
really correspond with D. imperialis as I know it. The plant is about
12 feet high and 15 feet across with many basal 'sucker's and stout,
branching stems. The single row of petals are rather more narrow
towards the tips than usual and the flower colour is a uniform rose
pink. The flowers are up to nearly 3" across and borne in racemes
similar to D. imperialis. Foliage is almost identical, but I did feel
that it was not quite so large and impressive - although this may be
more to do with growing conditions than anything else.

Any suggestions? I seem to remember an allied species being discussed
here a while back, but cannot remember much about it.
