Re: Oxalis herrerae

I must admit it is a bit of a gem - and seems to prefer very light
shade here as well. A frost of nearly minus 2C (29F) left it
untouched several weeks ago and the flowers seem to be continuously
produced. One thing I noted in Sean's posting: that it is a quiet
little thing. I have to disagree somewhat. Looking at the masses of
bright yellow flowers on a grey day, they appear to create their own
pools of sunlight. Admittedly in summer, when so many other things
are out, it does tend to become overlooked. I love to see it in a big
hanging planter where after a year or so, it tumbles over the edges.
I had a massive basket of this over 3ft across with a 4ft 'fall',
several years ago. It was magnificent.
