Fellow Medits--I stopped by a "bucket" seller of cut flowers the other
day and bought a bouquet of something she called "September" flower. It
has about 3-ft stems with lots of narrow, smooth, pointed little leaves,
lots of short little branches about 1-3 in long, and lots of little pale
pinky-lavender, daisy-like flowers, 2 layers of petals around a yellow
center, about 3/4-1 in across. It looks like Michaelmas daisies only it
doesn't have threadlike petals or rays, more like marguerite type
flowers, a bit like a Boltonia decurrens...you get the idea? Anybody
know what it is? TIA. Wendy
PS--Trevor Nottle and William Grant, I enjoyed reading your book reviews
in my latest issue of Pacific Horticulture! Another reminder of how
privileged I feel as a fledgling gardener to listen in on this group
with such learned, expert contributors!
