Re: Nectaroscordium siculum

I grow N. siculum here in my Seattle garden, which has very acid soil (just
like most gardens here). It seems to be no problem for it; I started with
about 3 of them and must have 18 or so scattered around the garden now. I'm
not sure if they seeded (I have never actually *seen* any seed produced but
it may be just a few flowers that produced seed) or have offset - but it's
hard to believe I've dug them around so much. Alliums in general seem to be
happy here - I had an A. schubertii live for 3 years; where usually they
crap out in a year. What I do have is a very dry garden, and aside from a
top dressing of a little manure every few years, there is not much soil
amendement going on in the hot section. Also our soil here in many areas
doesn't really know when to stop draining... It makes lots of species
tulips very happy but the big hybrid Narcissus resent it a bit! :)
