Contrary to Anthony's experience, S. forskaohlii
(which I can never spell and probably haven't now) self-seeds quite vigorously
up here in the English coastal North West - and is never troubled by our wet
climate or even by our occasional seriously cold spells. I quite enjoy its
self-seeding and it isn't difficult to remove if you get to it early enough -
but I can imagine that in a more obviously sympathetic climate it just might
cause a more serious problem...
