What's this plant?

I have a short stem of a Quercus in my hand.

Leaves are dark sage green above, finely
tomentose/pale beneath. Each is about 1 to 1-3/4 inch
long (up to 4.5cm). Oblong-lanceolate, oddly curved
to one side (oh-so-subtley), and oh-so-slightly wavy.
No significant dentation to speak of. Looks
evergreen. Acorns are forming in short clusters; too
small to describe in a worthy mannr.

The mother plant is in the SF Bay Area but not
necessarily native to California; this piece is from a
not-old plant here in Santa Maria and the plant is
maybe 6-feet tall and shrubby. I haven't seen either
plant.

What Quercus might it be? I originally though Q.
myrsinifolia but no teeth on these leaves and I don't
know any of the Q. x hispanica hybrids to pin it to
that.

Thanks,
Joe
