We carted a couple off to the flower festival in Wells (UK) yesterday,
but no one bought them, partly because it was raining as usual and no
one was buying anything much and partly because the Melanoselinums are
past their best at this time of the year and therefore no one knew what
they were missing. As Nick says, they are very striking plants, one of
the real "architectural" gems but we can only put them out in the Summer
months here; even in a heated tunnel, they got zapped by the frost in
April and the leaves went purple. It isn't listed as an edible in
Facciola's "Cornucopia" and we haven't tried eating it, has anyone?.....
apart from the Madeiran cows that is
