Horticultural job oening in southern California

In the past, I have seen horticultural job openings posted in this list. I trust it is then okay to list one here. There is an opening at Descanso Gardens in La Canada/Flintridge, near Los Angeles, California for the following position:

A full time Assistant Gardener to work under the supervision of the Rosarium Horticulturist, or Horticulture Supervisor, depending on the area asigned. The duties include, but are not limited to, the day-to-day maintenance of the plants, facilities and other landscape features.

Some formal education in Ornamental Horticulture is desired, but not required. Landscape experience required. Some supervisory experience preferred. Working knowledge of basic horticultural techniques, plant identification, irrigation maintenance and turf management. Ability to supervise crew in day to day activities important. Previous experience handling and applying chemical pesticides required. Common sense problem solving ability and flexibility in thinking important. Must be familiar with botanical nomenclature. Must have current class three California Drivers license.

The position requires constant standing, bending and walking in all kinds of weather. Good vision and eye coordination important for tool safety. Must be able to carry out daily physical work and lift and carry 50 pounds. Be able to work in a team situation and in a public setting.
