Re: Cuyamaca cypress

WOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

Do you know how RARE those are!!!??? It's probably the rarest cypress in the world!

I suspect that they will grow under conditions similar to those allowed for other Cupressus of that area (C. guadalupensis and C. forbesii [or C. g. var. f.]).  Essentially, that means it should be quite tolerant of a wide range of conditions.

I would also suspect it will grow about the same, in your area -- maybe fast to 10-20 feet, then slowly to 30-40.

And how DID you get those little guys?

I am about to inherit two Cuyamaca cypress that have been growing in
pots for at least 5 years. I'd like to plant these out in the
garden, they are about 2 1/2' tall. Does anyone know how tall they
will get under low water garden conditions and what their preferred
growing conditions would be?

I am about 3 miles from the coast in San Diego, more inland climate
than coastal.

thanks!
