The most wonderful I know of is a private garden owned by the lovely couple
the Reids. It is called Hog Hill, I believe. Sean has their contact info,
as he managed to arrange a tour for the Northern California branch a few
years ago. A wonderful nursery with a beautiful demonstration garden is
Sonoma Horticultural Nursery. The owner/manager is a lovely man who is not
averse to giving tours and sharing his passion for breeding rhododendrons.
This is, of course, not the most spectacular time of year, since his rhodies
and azaleas and dogwoods are a real wonder in the springtime. Still worth a
visit, though. Cottage gardens nursery in Petaluma is also a treat.

Does anyone have gardens (public or private) to recommend in Napa.
I'll be there next week.
Thanks
