I haven't seen this sort of windbreak used in California, but it sounds very
interesting. Kind of like a hedge-in-depth. I think the conditions aren't
severe enough to require that in most of California, but it sounds like it
would be attractive anyway.
In the places where I've seen single-line-of-tree windbreaks here, they
appear to work fairly well, and ironically the trees are usually Eucalyptus.
