I have a large collection in pots but put them in the ground and it is the
kiss of death!
A number of old books I have on violet culture says they should be
liberally sprinkled with aged soot.
Now Dickens and Chimney Sweeps are no longer with us, could the chemists
out there please tell me what the chemical or organic equivalent of "aged
soot" might be. I will be eternally grateful!
