Below is an included message about Ted Kipping's monthly potluck
at the SF County Fair Bldg (the 'Hall of Flowers' next to the
entrance of Strybing at 9th and Lincoln in Golden Gate Park).
They take place on the second Thursday - i.e. 7/09 this month.
Ted puts these casual events on himself and his invited speaker
this month is Paul Leondis, a friend of mine who grows all sorts
of interesting Mediterranean bulbs among other rare and unusual
plants. Admission is free, but you need to bring something to
eat to share for the potluck as Paul mentions. A lot of the
most interesting Bay Area horticultural types seem to routinely
attend this event, so you might make some interesting connections.
I'm hoping to attend, and perhaps make a brief announcement about
some of the stuff I'm doing on the Medit-Plants website. Any of
you folks in the area who might be interested are welcome to
attend as well. Contact me or Paul if you want more information
Check out Paul's website which contains many photos of the
plants he'll no doubt be talking about:

(Paul is not currently part of the list, so e-mail him directly
if you wish to communicate with him).

Hi Sean:
Thanks for the response!
The talk basically will be on Mediterranean bulbs focussing on Europe,
California, South America and South Africa. Mostly it will deal with my
personal experience and photos, though I will include some material shot
at
other places.
The format is potluck dinner at 7pm in the Hall of Flowers in Strybing
Arboretum, corner of 9th and Lincoln in SF. Attendees should bring food,
preferably not wine, as there will be lots of folks who bring wine to
avoid
making food. Slides at 8 or a bit after. I am actually considering
bringing some rare things to sell there, which Ted Kipping - the sponsor -
is in favor of.
