Dear Planters, July 22, 1998
I grow a hybrid of Dooryanthes (sp.!) palmeri x excelsa on my
` Berkeley drought slope. It survived 19F in 1990 with no difficulty
but I did lose at lease three spp. of Beschorneria, including
yuccoides.
Doryanthes are hardier and much larger than any beschornerias,
` far more grandiose. Mark's memory of the name suggests a
Xanthorheoea but the description sure don't fit!
