Re: Gary Matson

In the local paper this morning, there was an article on the front page
about the killings of Gary and his partner.  Now, for those of you who do
not know much about california, I should tell you that San Diego is many
hundreds of miles south of the area where Gary lived and died.  So the fact
that it made my newspaper was quite surprising.  What was even more
distressing was that the article focused on the fact that the two brothers
who have been arrested for their murder have now been tied to recent arson
attacks on three synagogues in Sacramento, about 150 miles or so south of
Gary's home.  The arsons have horrified many many of us, both Jewish and
non-Jewish alike.  So if we are to believe the press reports, Gary's murder
looks more and more like a heinous hate crime.
