Dear friends,
it has been great to be a member of this list in the past years, for the
competence, the knowledge, the feeling of a common passion that we all
share. But nothing had prepared me to the immense warmth, the deep moving
that crossed this list in the past few days. Like everybody else here I was
terribly shocked when I read about Gary's murder, but your reaction, our
reaction to this horrible story has been a balsam to the sense of loss and
despair that I felt. Loss for someone I had never met, despair at the
thought of what human beings can do to each other.
The seeds of hatred that those two brothers nourished in their arid lives
have been turned by all of you in a garden of love. I am deeply grateful,
and I am amazed and enchanted by your capacity to create beauty from grief.
A wave of love, brotherhood, simpathy spread through the whole world thanks
to this list. Today I received a lesson that I will never forget. Thank
you, thank you all.
I will contribute to the Memorial with a photo from my garden as soon as I
can enrole some help in scanning it.
