Medlistpeople,
I have a very large clump of Agapanthus campanulatus 'Alba'
but it is very shy to bloom....any suggestions?
It gets full sun, good drainage, the leaves are HUGE, the
clump is 2' across, some water, but very little if any
flowers. HUH?

Hi List,
Living just 20 kilometres from France, I can tell Agapanthus are well
planted
in that country, especially by the Mediterranean side and the South West.
Also, there are several specialized firms in the country which offer rarer
species and cultivars. Our Agapanthus are in full flower now: we got several
kinds, all unnamed but beautiful... We 'name' them with our own
descriptions:
'Huge White', 'Huge Blue', 'Dwarf White', and so on... Agapanthus are very
useful plants for the Summer borders, and I wouldn't like to be without
them... Agapanthus + Fuchsia + Hydrangea: a sure combination. Add some
colourful Coleus, Canna and, why not, a well grown Ensete (you could
overwinter indoors if your climate is not mild enough) or classic foliage
plants and you'll feel in the tropics...
Is there a thing like a variegated blue Agapanthus?
Cheers,
Jose
