Re: Blue summer

Dear Olivier,

Thanks for that beaut description of your 'Blue Summer'. We don't water either, except for newly planted things put into beds of previously established plants -these are usually replacements for some poor thing that didn't make it through summer. My problem is that most people do not believe that you can have a garden, one that looks like a garden - OK, well not the 'lawn'kind, and not water heavily over summer. In your experience do people, especially experienced gardeners, look doubtful when you say you don't water?

Lavinia Taverna once sked me if I liked her Mediterranean garden at Villa Landriana. I said "Yes" but that it could be better looking in parts if it were not so lush and trying to include many non-Med. plants that need summer irrigation. Somehow I think she had not fully explored what was possible with the Med. idea. She was still having fun discovering new Med. plants and ideas when she died. Has anyone, or Olivier, seen how the garden is going since then? I heard there was some discussion in the family about what to do with the garden festival.

regards
