Hi all,
I was watching the evening news tonight and they did a story on
the "Circus trees" of Santa cruz. These trees were grafted and trained
into all sorts of fantastic shapes (Rings, ladders, and a basket
weave!). These trees were amazing, especially the basketweave tree
which terminated in a single crown! There were some that were almost
impossibly trained into curly-q shapes. They talked a little about the
trees caretaker and showed some pictures of the trees as they look
today. They also said that the trees have been saved and are going to
be planted in a new amusement park in i think Hollister (California)
that will have traditional amusement park rides AND also focuses on
horticulture. Sort of a botanical garden themepark. The conceptual
drawing looked promising and it looks like theres going to be a glass
house and a pond built into the park. Anyway just thought you all might
be interested in it.
