Hi
Cerinthe retorta is smaller than C. major, about 2/3 the height. I find it
a little more hardy if marginally so - the freeze that killed my C. major
out in December in Seattle left C. retorta unscathed. Also, the bracts,
instead of being blue-purple, are more purple-maroon. I like both plants; C.
major lasts longer whereas C. retorta is more of an early spring plant and
tends to go down faster when the weather gets hot.
