Seaweed - salt?

My method of using seaweed in the late fall is to go down to the beach
after a storm has piled it up at hightide mark and sort it out on the
beach - i.e. removing large course pieces of giant kelp and driftwood
etc. Then I spread out the "good stuff" above the hightide mark so the
next tide won't douse it with seawater. After a good fall rain, I
consider it rinsed of salt and go down and collect it and spread it
directly on the garden.
