Jacarandas

Jacaranda mimosifolia is one of those subtropical
treats that is worth planting even in marginal areas,
thanks to the enchanting color of the flowers. Here in
San Francisco they take a while to reach tree size and
never approach the magnificence of LA (or SJ) trees,
but if they bloom they please. I too am curious to
know if any other species are cultivated in bot
gardens or by specialists, and what the climate range
of the genus is.
