We have a similar novelty here in a yellow form of our Pohutukawa
(Metrosideros excelsa) and they are occasionally planted around
Wellington, including several along to road leading to one of the
harbourside suburbs. Although the colour is a good strong yellow they
look to me downright insipid, with nowhere near the impact of the
natural reds.
I can well imagine a yellow Embothrium striking me similarly.
