Re: Lupinus palaestinus

Anni,

Our Intern from Israel ID'd this Lupin as L. pilosus. Since receiving
seed 3 years ago, this plant has been knocking the socks off our
visitors. The only id given me was a lupin from Israel. Debby arrived
MCBG 2 months ago, and was in a complete culture shock when she stumbled
upon this Lupin. She was delighted to see a piece of home in her new
very different home. Lupin p. is common to the low lying areas of
Israel.
I found this a difficult plant to transplant. It lives but does not
thrive nearly as well as when its seeded directly into the garden.
It doesn't mind our copious winter rain, nor our cool temperatures.
It's in full bloom, and has been since April.
