Thanks for this - very useful.
About the overhead watering of natives in SD, I have
always wondered just how much fog there is on the
coast there. Whenever I'm in Southern California the
marine layer seems high up and I've never felt
drizzle, but a few visits scattered over the years
does not paint an accurate picture. 
Just how moist/drizzly/foggy is zone 24, at least in
SD County, and in what seasons?
