Hi Glenn--
No real research, but anecdotally, we here is logging country know that as
trees are removed, the water table declines. Here in Mendocino County,
old-timers say that before the very intensive logging of the late 20th
century and the proliferation of vineyards (which also removes valley floor
hardwoods)many of the streams that are now seasonal ran year round. If you
want hard data, you could try the forestry program at UC Berkeley.
