Moira,

Hebe pimelioides 'Quicksilver' is available here. I
have it planted with Muscari armeniacum and a white
flowered form of Ribes sanquineum, both of which bloom

in early spring here. They make a lovely threesome.

None of my blue-gray Hebes have bloomed for me though.
Any thoughts on why?

Deborah

The only thing I can think of is that maybe they don't get enough sun. Hebes in genral seem to be unfussy about this, but many of the blue greys do seem to come from open rocky areas in the South Islend, often at some altitude, where there would be a lot of summer light. Apart from the last two years when there has been a lot of unusual overcast, NZ is generally renowned for its clear skies and extremely long summer sunshine hours, especially in the south.

My plant certainly grows where sun is at the a maximum -on a north-facing terrace at the top of the garden (north is our sunniest aspect). In summer it would normally bake all day long.

Now I know about 'Quicksilver'and have found it is known here I am determined to track it down. If the ordinary nurseries don't stock it I shall try one in our area wholly dedicted to native plants. The pictures are inspiring me!
