| Hello Cheryl, In his new book, The Dry Gardening Handbook, Olivier Filippi provides the answer to your query: "In its first year, it forms a spreading ball, like a plump regular cushion. The branches then root as they touch the soil and the plant spreads rapidly, making a thick groundcover." In my garden, I planted several on top of a wall, and they form a green and blue cascade.
