If you are open to real thrifty accommodations, try the College Inn in the
University District. 4000 University Way NE, Phone: 633-4441. Small but
very clean and pleasant rooms, common baths. If this sounds sleazy it's
not; we often put up visitors to our department there. Very affordable
with breakfast provided as well, and it's convenient.

Besides the Bellevue Botanical Gardens, you will want to go to the Good
Shepherd Center on N 50th and Meridian (Wallingford area west of the
U.W.), the Ballard Locks and their gardens, the Arboretum, the Bloedel
Reserve, and Kubota Gardens down in South Seattle. The Rhododendron
Species Foundation in Federal way is also worthwhile, and though the
Rhodies are mostly out of bloom now, it's a beautiful garden in its own
right with lots of interesting plants. The Woodland Park Zoo has great
plantings and a new rainforest exhibit. The U.W. has its Medicinal Herb
Garden and the Botany Greenhouse is also open to the public. Volunteer
park also has a nice conservatory.

When are you coming?

Bob
