I remember when i was working out in Big Sur as a part of my summer job a
couple of years ago (Nursery work, collecting seed, and getting rid of
exotics), i remember the leaves of the Sycamores being the largest leaves
i had seen in any of the areas we worked. The leaves had to be at least as
large as dessert plates ( about 6 - 8 inches wide). I think everything
along that stretch of the little sur river were big ( there were several
giant chain ferns (Woodwardia) there too).
